Who knows about DJ Speakers please?

Hi all,

My younger cousin is looking to buy some DJ Kit.

I have been researching a little and it seems that QSC is a top brand for Active Speakers ...However they are not cheap! :(

So what I'd like to ask is ...what is a good brand for Active Speakers ...which won't cost the earth please?

Hang on - are we talking PA system for a venue, or bedroom speakers? Because QSC are more the PA variety, and KRK etc are more for living room/bedroom monitoring...

That was going to be my question! Is he planning on setting up a mobile disco or does he just want to lay down some beats in his bedroom ;)
 
If you want some cheap home monitors, Behringer do a reasonable range. Alternatively get some passive ones and a cheap amp.
 
Pa speakers are pointless unless he plans on doing some paid work. All he's going to do with a PA system at home is **** off the neighbors.

No paid work - buy active monitors like the krk.
 
Those KRK's will be fine for home.
For PA, even the better makes do budget models which aren't the best. You get what you pay for and second hand if worth considering
