Who to ring to make noise complaint

The local council noise team around here are useless, they all go home and are in bed themselves way before any party kicks off, and are definitely tucked up when it is 3am and persistent noise is still happening. They shut up shop at like 10pm and you get redirected to an answer machine service, which is useless.

I'm all for parties but after midnight it needs to stop or be turned way down.

Makes me laugh. I DJ'ed at a party last year which was held in a garden. It was loud and out doors but ended way before 10:30pm yet we had community support officers knocking on the door at 8pm with complaints. So some have the right method of complaining out there as I rang my local police station at 3am due to noise and they fobbed me off.

I sometimes wonder what area's people live in, I live in a generally good area with medium wealth people and when I walk home on a Friday or Saturday there's often one or 2 houses in the area with a party going on, people don't call the police that easily even though a party may go on with loud music to 3am ( was chilling at a mate and his neighbors had a party which went on to 3 am), I've still not seen police arrive or people moan about it... A party at night once in a while is the most normal thing in the world imo. I can understand it can be annoying but it's not like it's every day is it ?

But during daytime, I am annoyed most about people who moan about sound, why is them wanting silence more important than someone else wanting music, as far as I'm concerned, my direct next door neighbors, my opposite neighbors, and neighbors on the building left of ours, all play music loudly during daytime, so I do too, if they complain, I'll complain, but I know they won't as they don't mind and I don't mind either. I would probably move away from a place if I lived near grumpy neighbors who moan about music during daytime. I live for music and nobody will take that away from me, during night past 10 pm, fine, I'm silent, but at 10am-10pm, I'll play music when I please ( provided the neighbors haven't specifically said to be silent then, don't get me wrong if they have reasonable silence requests ( like silence on that and that day&time or during the week because of kids) I'll comply to them, but our neighbors haven't and they think the same, luckily.)

Basically if I had grumpy neighbors who would always complain during day and not give a time ( for example when they are at work) when I can play music nice and loud, I'd probably return the favor and make their life miserable to my best way. NOBODY will take away some loud Pink Floyd, Deep purple, ELO, Genesis, etc time away from me. I'm at the point where I can't imagine living without an hour or 2 or 3 of loud music in the week. Luckily most people have common sense and are reasonable, or simply are fine with it and don't care.

Finally,
Why do people think kids playing is an acceptable noise but some music isn't. Their fun/r&r is more important ? If I hear annoying kids laying noise ( I don't like it, I'd rather listen to rubbish music like little wayne or from my next door neighbor through the walls than kids screeching) why wouldn't I be allowed to play some music loudly to cancel the annoying kids sound out.

Because their silence doesn't force other people to endure silence against their will, whereas music played loudly deprives others of peace.

Well it does force other people to endure silence against their will if their moaning means everyone around them can't make any noise.

And what about people that dont work 9-5 everyday? My lass is an out of hours consultant for the NHS, her working hours often dont follow regular shifts. How about thinking about other people before assuming its okey to just please yourself. Spiteful ****.

I don't work during day either.
The law is silence between 10pm-7 or8am, miserable ****.
I don't go complaining about my neighbors playing music loud at 9am either don't I, because I'm not such a **** like people who would.

Of course you would not complain about little kids playing outside though who often make even more noise...
Exactly. Use headphones if you have to.
Headphones don't make my house shake and feel the bass...

Plus I have a habit of wanting to run &jump around when listening to music which limits me to wireless HF's or rubbish headphones or earplugs. Rather than nice hifi headphones.

No wonder society is the way it is with the "me me me" attitude of self centred little ****s like you. ******.

You sir are a complete prat!

You guys who want complete silence 24/7 are the tossers and prats.
Talk about being self centered when you don't allow people to enjoy music.

Why'd you always play that song so loud?!...

... Because we want to! Because we want to!

I never said I always listen to music loudly, I listen to music about 15-20 hrs a day, but only about 2 or 3 hours in the week loudly at home, often around 2-4pm... And pretty much always in the car.

I can't imagine having to be silent, I always listen to music when at the pc or to the radio at home, always listen to loud music in the car, when walking somewhere outside, always listen to music while at work: either from the radio or my own music from a portable speaker or earplugs or the car stereo, and a couple of times per week I sleep while listening to music with earplugs, I listen to music when taking a dump, when taking a shower, etc. Nobody can tell me to always be silent, I HATE silence and can't stand being in a place without music for longer than a short while.

I don't understand why people should put up with, and worse still, expect unnecessary and unwanted disturbance? Everyone should respect other peoples' right to peace, especially in a residential area. There are places specifically built for making all the noise you want (clubs).

you should respect my right to party in my own home

I am sorry, I wasn't directing my comment at you snowdog!

I was just reading this thread and all I was doing was singing Billie Piper - Because we want to! in my head!

My parents had this problem last weekend, the neighbours to the back of their house were having a barbecue and had dance music/rap on so loud in their garden that my parents couldn't hear themselves think, and all the children from the neighbourhood were clearly able to hear lots of explicit rap. When it'd been going on from 5pm-10pm, my mum finally rang the council - when they asked how loud it was, she went outside with the phone, where it was so loud in her garden that she couldn't even hear the person from the council on the phone.

Apparently they'd already had 6 complaints about it, but didn't seem to be going to do anything about it.

Mum saw 2 police officers wandering past the house, went out to talk to them (you could hear the music quite clearly from the front street even though the neighbours' garden is on a different street, at the back of the house) - about 10 minutes later the music went off.

She was probably lucky to actually see a police officer on the street though haha. Ring your council or non-emergency police number.
