I use a light meter with my mamiya when i use the waist level finder and when using dedicated flashy units in a studio. The only other time i use a light meter is when doing exposures that are longer than 30 seconds.
I had a go of one the other day when I was trying out a studio set up for the first time. Decided looking at the image + histogram worked better Guess they are more useful when shooting in a studio using film though.
If lights changing I'll often use my meter rather than rely on the camers built in meter, even though I always shoot nefs - it's a habit that's carried over from shooting Velvia in the bad old days.
