Well you had a lucky escape,I spilled a glass of wine only last Friday over my pc and it blew motherboard cpu and at this time I don't have a pc because I did a dumb thing I'm having to completely build a new system now and my old pc was only a yr old just hope my 2 graphics cards survived but won't know that till I get the the new stuff,it has learnt me a lesson not to take any drink near a pc in future cos its a costly mistake if you knock it over

This is what Contents insurance with accidental spillage cover is for, unless you thought you were above spilling stuff, and as such didnt stump up the extra £5 it costs.
