Who was into wrestling as a kid?

Hah, I used to love watching wrestling back when it was the WWF, even as a child you knew it was all staged but it was still great nonetheless. The Rock, Stone Cold, Undertaker, Chris Jericho, Mr Ass, Dudley Boyz, Edge & Christian, The Hardy Boys, Right to Censor... :D

I'll never forget the hype leading up to the ladder match between Razor Ramon and Shawn Michaels

I was obsessed with ladder matches and always used to recreate them with my classic no moving parts WWF toys. Those things could take a beating!

Personally, the WWE product grew stale a while ago. I still listen to a couple of podcasts so I know what's going on, but there's barely anything worth watching any more. However, the indie scene is still going strong. Ring of Honour put out fantastic shows weekly, only an hour long compared to the 3 hours (Plus 2 for smackdown) of WWE, and it focusses on wrestling, rather than the sports entertainment that WWE has embraced. You can stream their latest show each week here, though you need to register for free on their website.

In addition, there are numerous other indie feds out there that cater to different markets. Chikara's my personal favourite as they have great wrestling, but they don't try to take themselves seriously. They have bizarre gimmicks, especially involving grenades.

But there;s also fantastic indie workers in general. El Generico is easily regarded as one the best wrestlers in the world.I don't usually link to compilation vids like this, but its a good display of his work.

I used to watch a lot of WWF when I was a kid, last few years I've been mainly into Indies, death matches and Japanese stuff.

Taka Michinoko can still go! Was in this years NJPW Super Jrs Tournament.

In Japan though a lot of the 80's and 90's guys can still wrassle as they didn't pollute themselves with roids. Like Fuji Hamada is now Jushin Thunder Liger, guy must be near his mid fifties and still doing 450 splashes and dives to the outside, could you imagine Flair or Hogan doing that?

I loved WCW when I was kid, remember it was on that TNT channel on a Friday night. I loved the whole NWO story they did, my favourite character/wrestler was Sting.

That died, or atleast TNT stopped showing it, so I was forced to move over to WWF/WWE. Which was good but didn't enjoy it as much. I've not watched it for several years now, guess I out-grew it.

WWF was awesome when I was younger and only a couple of weeks ago was I watching some of the stuff I grew up with on Youtube.

Grew up watching The Rock, Stone Cold etc
Favourites were The Hardy Boyz because they were doing flips off Ladders etc

sting and jeff hardy still wrestle on TNA (matt hardy also made a few appearances but think he has stopped now).

TNA is unfortunately full of washed up WWE stars who probably shouldn't be wrestling anymore. Angle's body can hardly cope, and he was let go from the WWE because he wouldn't take time off to let his injuries heal.
Jeff Hardy turned up to a PPV high, was allowed out into the ring, and then Sting had to legit pin him in a minute. He's also been jailed for drugs trafficking.
Anderson (Kennedy) is just terrible.

That said, the former Dudleys are doing pretty well there now, at least.

granted it is full of has beens and wannabes but isn't nearly as theatrical and story based as WWE. can never understand how a 3hr WWE RAW show can only have like 45mins of actual wrestling most of the time.
don't watch either but my kids like it so will occasionally watch it.

I cant actually remember liking it, but I had loads of wrestling and football stickers and cards. Oh right, I never actually watched either, my parents just kept on buying me useless stickers.
