Who was into wrestling as a kid?

WWF was the best, everything else now is just a joke.

Have you seen TNA on Challenge? I try to avoid watching TV soaps at all cost but this is just fake storyline after another.

I lost interest after WWF, despite always knowing wrestling is not real WWF did a good job of not showing it to be fake. TNA for example could not look more fake if it tried.

When WCW was at its peak, it forced WWF to compete and it also hit a huge peak... I remember watching Nitro and Raw on Friday nights with my mates... it was just insane

NWO with Nash, Hall, Hogan...... Ric Flair, Sting, Bret Hart, DDP....Goldberg undefeatable... the Giant defecting to WWF was fun

WWF had Austin at his absolute peak, Michaels, Trips, Undertaker (who can forget the first ever hell in a cell with Taker v Michaels!), Foley.... New Age Outlaws, McMahons involved... Owen till his death, the Ministry, Nation, The Rock of course! Ken Shamrock in his day, Val Venis...

Oh I could reminicse for ages on it, I watched all the shows, all the PPVs... and only when WCW died and WWF moved out of the attitude era then I grew up and out of it.

Who remembers stunts like these:

Id also advise people to watch Monday Night Wars... real good insight into what happened.

Early / mid 90s WWF was the dogs

The Wrestlemania game for PC was fantastic

What happened to WWF (apart from the crappy name change) Its terrible now

Memories - i sometimes forget what a fantastic showman HBK was.

Probably the only other Cell match I can recall as close as great was the Foley v Taker one, where Foley has his nose bone hanging out of his nostril.

Not a huge fan of the video quality but this gives you the jist of some of the bumps Foley would take... absolute nuts, but watching that live at like 3am was AWESOME! :D

Oh I used to love WWF/WWE!

Used to watch in the early 00's, when we had The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Hardy Boys, HHH, Booker T, Chris Benoit, Chyna, Chris Jericho... Then I got old enough to drink so found better things to do on a Friday night :p

It went from being Professional Wrestling to 'Sports Entertainment'. :(

Its just boring nowadays, the shows never seems to have any real direction, storylines are introduced and then dropped with no explaination at the drop of a hat. It really comes down to **** writing and a chairman in his mid 60's who thinks he knows what the audience less than half his age wants.

ed:

Oh wow, now the word c-rap is censored, obviously someone is thinking of the children..:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

I was a huge fan of wrestling, especially in the 80's. My I used to love watching The Road Warriors, Four Horsemen, Sting, Great Muta and the Von Erich's in the NWA (before WCW).

I equally loved to see Strike Force, the Dream Team, Bulldogs, Don Muraco and Hogan.

It has gone downhill since we lost the NWA and it changed from the WWF, to the WWE :(

Once WCW got bought out that was it, no real pressure for WWE to produce interesting tv, if you want to watch wrestling its either WWE or WWE lite known as TNA and theyre not even vaguely on any kind of level comperable to WWE.

I used to quite like WCW on ITV in the early 90s, I was always rooting for the tag-team of Marcus Alexander Bagwell and 2 Cold Scorpio. Remember being really annoyed when they'd get screwed over by the baddies, you know, some guy enters the ring when the ref isn't looking to break a hold etc.

If it was RoH in TNA's position, things would likely be far different. Unfortunately, TNA hasn't learned from WWE's mistakes, and is instead repeating all of them. They aren't even really fostering any of their own talent, a large proportion of it is former WWE stars. If they can foster their own talent, and keep up the recent shift in quality of their shows, then they may have a slim chance.

And over the other ocean, one of their wrestliers is a blow up doll.
(First minute is pretty much nothing)

Says a lot about the people over here when they can't put on good matches, while in Japan someone can put on a fantastic match against an inanimate object.

Yeah, the storytelling was never particularly complex, but at the time it worked. Everyone loved the faces and hated the heels. And it was a fantastic time for wrestling as the crowds were so invested in it.
