got 3 of mine removed yesterday under general anaesthetic and boy is my mouth still sore! :( they were growing at 45 degree angle under the gums and one had punched a hole in the tooth next to it

One down, three to go. I don't know if they are generally very slow to come through but mine have been doing this for what seems like forever.

I'm having the tooth in front of a wisdom tooth removed as it's basically a filled in shell now and the dentist said that the wisdom tooth should grow in to replace the tooth that will be removed. Bonus.

Tooth pain is something else though. Rough as hell.

I didnt have general I just had to see a dentist who was trained to use special pliers. I laid there in his chair and I thought he was getting me ready when after a few seconds he just said all done.

I had one removed last year and couldn't believe how quick and painless it was. A bit of an anti-climax as I was expecting bucket-loads of pain.

I had all four pulled a few years ago worst part was the injections and I was back eating most solids after 24 hours as well

Mine are under the gums and I'm having an operation at the hospital to have them out. Were yours just pulled out at the dentists?

The worst pain is when the tooth snaps in half while the root of the tooth (rhymes :)) is still stuck.

Happend to me - very uncomfortable and painful.

If everything goes accordingly then its a fairly painless procedure.

yes, had one removed a few years ago and wouldn't wish it on anyone.

It was a big tooth and I ended up with be having the legal limit of jabs (and I could still feel it *a lot*!) and two dentists going at it at the same time.

After an hour and a half of constant attempts, they drilled it in half and pulled it out in two parts....

Not a pleasant experience at all and had I had known, I would have had a general.

I'm going to have them all removed soon - top ones have come through fully but bottom ones are only partially through the gum and both are impacted - one of the lower impacted ones has been giving me a few problems recently and the dentist basically recommended that all be removed anyway.

Out of interest - for people who have had 4 removed - how long before you were able to eat normal food? I've got my cousin's wedding coming up in two weeks and not sure when I can get an appointment (ideally end of this week...). Would 1 week be enough to be able to eat normally again?

Three of my outermost wisdom teeth grew fine, but one is tilted inwards against the next tooth and less than half grown, but it simply stopped growing and doesnt cause any pain or discomfort. So no need to get any removed.
