why are 4k monitors so much more expensive than 4k TVs?

batman would probably look totally awesome. yeah, distance is a factor. imagine a 32" 1920 x 1080 @ 2ft away or even 50". Sometimes I swear my 21" 1920 x1080 looks better than my 34" 3440 x1440.

I guess that has something to do with pixel density. The bigger the screen the less density of pixels when you sit the same distance away.

For example 21" 1080p monitor has 104 pixels per inch (or PPI) and 34" 1440p monitor has 86 PPI. So you see, your smaller 1080p monitor has more pixels in the same space because it's smaller.

Only way to have more PPI than your 21" 1080p monitor is to have a 34" 4K monitor.

you're right. when I first bought the thing I thought it was a true 4K, but it isn't, and that was a long time ago before I educated myself in PC hardware and software. I was like F---! And I got sucked into this ultra wide crap, which isn't bad for movies, but doing 3D designs and graphic designs it's horrible. Games weren't too bad, but a lot of the older games were not created for 4K/2K ultra wide screen even when you set the game settings to resolution and full screen. New games are and it's nice, but the curve doesn't really give you that immerse feeling like they say, due to the game wasn't designed in a curve world. I think there was only one game ever designed that way and still requires a lot high end PC hardware. I believe it's Crysis. I'm really enjoying my 4K tv as a monitor which I pushed to actual 5K resolution. What a difference and using it for my graphic design softwares and Blender is just so much easier and using so many apps that I use in designing a RPG game myself it has been so much better. I'll use my 34" as a extension for research apps while on my 43".
