Why are people such theiving scum?

Having had bikes stolen before i'm inclined to think that anyone who steals is not deserving of anything.

However if i found a rear light on the floor as i was walking along it'd definately be a case of finders keepers.

Fasten it on better next time Mine is tied on with a piece of string and it's never fallen off dirt jumping. It's not nice losing something but don't be angry, accept it's gone, learn and move on. Now you get to choose an even nicer rear light ;)

Sorry I don't get it, if it was on the road, and you haven't seen the person who it belongs to its fair game..

Some people here seem this think its murder :/

Bike lights don't grow on roads, if you happen across one it quite obviously did not get there by itself. Thus it belongs to *someone*. Thus you leave it there, because you never know.

It might not be murder but taking it still isn't cricket.

Perhaps the perpetrator was just the victim of a moral dilemma. They walked past the object and decided it posed risk on the road to cyclists, therefore picked it up with the intention of moving it to the pavement.

Upon moving it, the dilemma begins. By placing it on the floor they are littering, by keeping it they are stealing, therefore they bin it, the only logical decision.

:)

Pfft I wonder how many get picked up by dustmen instead, its not like when people forget to take them off their bike when locked up, that is stealing.

But as long as you do see it come off and you can't get it back to the owner I see no issue..

The owner has lost it so its fair game.. You don't know how long its been there.

I hear that these things happen in threes.

It could have been three losses if his sadle had gone he might have not got far enough to loose his light before he lost his testicles.

Absolute jobless scum of the earth.

Jobless dose not equal scum, honest people don't change their nature through loss of employment, you should have put dishonest scum.

Errm...because it isn't yours?

Just because a certain (manufactured) object is unattended doesn't mean it's suddenly yours to take.

Jesus Christ, where have morals gone these days?

Disagree think unless you can see who lost it its fine, or have a way of getting it back to them. I found a few mobiles and USB sticks before, I end up trying to return them and people generally are not grateful about you taking your time to try and find them.

For example, I was at uni late and went into one of the computer rooms, there was a USB stick under the desk which someone must have dropped. They have their contact details on a cv on the drive, call them up takes my 5 calls to make them understand I have their USB stick. Then they show up don't even say thank you and walk off..

Doing the right thing is too much hassle, that's why I think most of you just are happy to let something get broken when its lost and think you are morally good.

Bet if you found £50 on the road you'd all take it, not try find its rightful owner etc..

Morals <sigh>
