why cant i sync at the full 8m?

why cant a i connect at the full 8m as opposed to 7.5mbit? I think its due to my snr but how would i go about fixing it?

Usual master socket jiggerypokery should be your first port of call.

its an old non nte5 master socket , ive tried the ring wire trick what else is there?

Not much.
Doing away with as many extensions as possible *(and connecting to the master socket itself) wouldn't go amiss either.
