I remember before when i got my ps3 about 2 years when i played online everyone use to be able to have a joke and messed about like doing noscopes.
Now i find most people just camp trying to get as many points as possible without even having fun, if you kill them once they will just rage quit.

Do you see this happening more?

Oh yes. I rage quit MW2 immediately if I come across people noob tubing or using those akimbo ranger/model 1188 shotgun things. The patch did NOT fix them yesterday.

Because they're idiots.

People who take games seriously at all need to get a grip really.

Those who play in annoying way though, I'd rather play the game for fun, than play with idiots who take the game so seriously that they have to resort to stupid "tactics" to win.

I was playing SF4 online the other day an I came across some one who literally just stood there shooting fireballs, that was all they did.

As soon as the match ended, I just set my account to avoid them so I don't have to play again with them.

I just don't see how playing games like that is any fun.

This is one of the reasons i play very little online, and when i do, i try to go for co-op style games.

People have been taking online gaming seriously since it started, they just feel they need to.

Aye.
When I use to CS since 1.0, I literally lived in a cybercafe for hours after my school. There were even a fair few fights between gamers when the adrenaline rushed over their heads during a tournament.

It's nice to win and own but these days, I just take it as it comes - too much rage over gaming (which is meant to be relaxing) is not good.*Ummmm ummmmm ummmmm*

No one plays for fun anymore. You start up a private lobby without any ranking points to have a match and people start leaving to go get XP ;)

I must be in a very small minority that doesn't give two hoots for xp or anything like that. I just enjoy playing FPS games online for the fun of it.

I'm not good enough to play 'seriously'. I was alright at Q2 so, so long ago and only got competitive in clan matches. I couldn't be bothered after a while cos if you weren't online a few days you'd slipped dramatically. Only other time I've been 'serious' is playing Planetarion. Getting up at 4am to launch raids is pretty depressing thinking back on it! Enjoyed it thoroughly at the time.

If I'm ever in a rage, it's with myself for being such a noob at times. People are proper dumb online, despite their ability to play - like camping in the same place and even after being killed they run right back there only to get another grenade in their face. When you get killed by them it's so frustrating.

I suppose the more you get into it, the more serious it becomes.

I think rankings and online stats makes people take games more seriously. I'd like to think i'd have better stats at a game than my mate's 5 year old son, and that's the baseline for both me and my mate.

At the same time though, I dislike moaners that complain when you rack up a good score. Especially those that refuse to use anything but knife on CS:S "for the LOLs" and then cry when you shoot them for "taking it too seriously". No, I'm just playing the game actually.

CS used to get pretty serious. Ran my own clan for alittle bit. never again lol.

Was good being in a league and the mad rush to get your team into the server for the match. The feeling of winning was emense. Shame It was normally the feeling of loosing lol

I Don't think the stats help now. I preferred it when everyone was just equal with no perks etc from the start, Most the time it is the other players skill that owned you.. But then you see he is a lvl 70 or something and outcome the excuses lol.

*Wipes a solitary tear away at thoughts of Counter-Strike Beta 5: The start of something special*

:D

I'd just like a straight forward shoot 'em up where everyone is using the same weapon, nothing extra. That'll sort the men from the boys.
