Do you have a blu-ray player in the car?

Do you have blu-ray in childrens room?

Do you have blu-ray in your laptop?

Most people will say no to most/all of the questions

I have lost count of the amount of times I have said, 'damn' when I realised that a BluRay didn't have a DVD with it. Similarly, I have lost count of the amount of times I have used the DVD that comes with the BluRay.

As nshire said, having the DVD can come in useful in so many different ways.

i watch blu rays were my blu ray player is. in my bedroom with big tv.

and even if it was better for some people is it to much to to make a blu ray only version? it cant cost much to not put in a dvd and then make it cheaper for people who dont want 3 copies of 1 movie.

I have lost count of the amount times I thought "damn, why is there no blueray in my DVD box?" :p

but anyway my opinion is that they know not 'enough' people are buying DVD's let alone blue rays so this is just their way of shafting you for more money

Exactly, cheaper for them to just start doing DVD and Blu-ray in the same box for everything tbh. Does an extra DVD that adds no thickness to the case really bother you? I welcome it. Often I have wanted the kids to be able to watch a movie in their room and this has allowed for that with some of the blu-ray/DVD combo packs. I like it.

And would probably cost more to produce and market the two seperate sets. :p

Not to mention that the retailers hate having two versions of effectively the same stock item where they can avoid it (I suspect the total cost of producing two SKU's and keeping them available is probably a lot more than the cost of adding the DVD to the blu-ray set).

One of the things that is currently holding me back from pre-ordering a few blu-rays is that they don't have a DVD version with them, which means I can only play them in one room in the house.

I genuinely can't fathom why people have a problem with this . You're kidding yourself if you honestly think it it's making the Blu-Ray cost more, and there are a number of perfectly valid reasons posted already.

I swear some people just like to moan about anything and everything.

I think you have asked the wrong question. surely you should be asking why they are still so exspensive, even older titles are overpriced

I like it, my PS3 is in my room, so if I get new film and if anyone else wants to watch it they can in any of the other rooms with DVD players. I wonder if they'll ever be able to get them onto one disc, so a DVD player will play the film, then a bluray player will play the high definition one, possible? Or does the structure of the bluray prevent this?

Speaking to a cashier at ASDA, and he was saying they get a lot of people who buy the Blu-Ray without realising they need a Blu-Ray player, so I can only assume this is marketed at those.

1 box. If it doesn't work, you've got a fallback.

Because i only have a bluray player in one room and i often lend and borrow films from people that don't own bluray players. I really like the fact that my Up bluray came with a DVD an i wish more would do that for a cheap price (up costed around £9 for a bluray + dvd pack, most cost near double which is nonsensical.

I dont think I've ever used any of the DVD's from the.........two DVD and BluRay multipacks I have.

As has been said, If I wanted it on DVD, Ill buy it on DVD, If I want it on the phone, or watch films on the lap top on holiday it will be ripped and carried either on the lap top or on a USB stick.
