why dosent psu power fans, when psu isnt connected to mobo

why does the power supply not power the fans inside my case, when the power supply isn't plugged in to the motherboard, but is connected to the socket?

To turn on the power supply, two pins on the main ATX connector are shorted. With it not being plugged into your motherboard, the power button on your case is not doing anything.

Google it and thy shall see which pins to short. Be careful though.
