Why haven't they made a Pokemon MMPORG yet?

Pokemon was really the best Gameboy game ever made...even people who hated Pokemon in general loved the game.

Imagine an MMPORG where you are in a lush 3d environment, running/cycling around forests, citys, towns etc running into random pokemon in the bush to fight and capture. Then you could see other trainers running around the forest (other REAL people, not npcs) and challenge them to battle...ask them to trade supplies etc etc.

You could even set up your own Gym when you earn enough money from winning competitions.

Example, lets say you wondering around miles away from the Gym YOU created (and designed)...a random person enters your gym and wants to win a gym badge from your gym to gain their credibility because you are so legendary in the game. You then get a message saying someone is at the gym, and wishes to challenge you...and are given the opportunity to automatically transport back in quicktime to fight... something like that.

They could make the game so you could pick your own skills etc... ie, you;'re better at training water pokemon than ground pokemon.

There would be more shops and things unlike the gameboy games, where you could buy yourself new clothes and faster bikes/accessories.

endless possibilities, why haven't they cashed in on this yet? everyone would have bought this when pokemon was a craze...it would still do well today though.

oh, and this is also great because there aren't really any PKers, personally i LOVE being a PKer, or having them around because it makes things interesting, but I know a lot of you are whinners and hate them... :)

They should also release this cross platform, to get the most users

I think you're missing the point, everyone I know still thinks that game was quality... you don't have to be young to appreciate good gameplay. Pokemon still has a MASSIVE fanbase, I just dont know why they haven't created it yet.

Same argument as saying all games are for computer nerds, not true.

I played the pokemon game without knowing what pokemon was...i hadn't watched the tv show before playing the game...it was a good game.

There are millions of crap MMORPGS, like legend of mir and all them generic ones that look the same... there are also several crap pokemon games like pokemon stadium and pokemon snap... These guys should stop wasting their money and make something good

Right, I was agreeing with you right up until you said that.

Legend of Mir ruled, I played it for 3 years until i came to uni.

But yeah that would be an awesome game. I must admit i loved the Pokemon games. Got blue on release and it was one of the best games ever. Still got Ruby sat in my DS now

Great Idea!

I'd even settle for a nce 3D recreation of the originals.

The GB games were solid, hard to find anything wrong with them.

There would need to be limits on the number of players per server though, otherwise it would just be chaos.

I couldn't see Nintendo licensing out one of their biggest titles across any system other than a Nintendo console, which in the past, have never really had any network support. That's why you've never seen an MMORPG of it.

Maybe with the Wii and DS network capabilities, an online version will be in the works. It'll never appear on another platform, until Nintendo go the way of Sega, for the same reason Sonic never appeared on other platforms until things collapsed: They can make more money by forcing people to buy their hardware to play exclusive titles, and with unbelievably strong franchises like Mario, Zelda, Metriod and Pokemon, that is not going to happen any time soon.

I think the problem is that not many 9 year olds have credit cards?
I'm sure the user base would have a higher average age than Toontown online. Pokemon maybe is slightly more kiddy than Mario and Sonic, but only because it's a newer franchise so older players don't remember it from when they were younger.

I'm so excited about the pokemon diamond/pearl coming to the ds, and have to asked the question about an mmorpg, tbh, i don't think it could work, its not as "open" ended as most games of that genre? Prove me wrong though :D

I'd say it's more open ended than most RPGs. Lots of pokemon to collect (although I would imagine a MMO version would put a limit on the amount you can have) and also plenty of other items to work for. And there's already a good scenario for PvP.

I agree this would be an epic idea as the greatness of the GB games was notable to the fact everyone played it! I had 'blue' when I was 10 and even a few years ago I actually bought 'leaf green' to replay it but with colour and things. It was the 'perfect' rpg in a sense, I think they really missed out on some big money from a game like that.

:)

it would make a great MMORPG.

You could have tournaments with prize money/pokemon to win.
Secret areas. Lots of NPC's.

Pokemone Battle Revolution for the Wii may interest people. You will be able to import your Pokemon from Diamond and Pearl on the DS.

EDIT: And hopefully play other over the internet!

Red, Blue and Yellow were crazily addictive, but after that they started to get a bit silly. I prefered the originals though i agree an mmorpg would probably kick butt.

i would play, on the sly when nobody was watching :D

but yes pokemon was good, it has definitely changed the world myself included and is an amazing franchise

oh dear god.

pikachu, pikachew, peekachu, peekachoo, XpikachuX.

i can see it now, gotta catchem all

Similar for me. I thouroughly enjoyed red and blue (I had one, my brother had the other) but it didn't leave me wanting more so I was never interested in the sequels.

I had Pokemon blue and absolutely loved it. I remember hooking up my gameboy to my mate's and trading Pokemon.

And I like your ideas and I am very surprised it hasn't already been made tbh. And I reckon those calling it a bad idea would play it. :D
