The more important question is how on earth did the Democrats not run their strongest campaign on the crucial seat and why on earth is Obama basically begging them to wait till its more difficult.
THe cynic in me thinks Obama and his cronies purposefully lost the seat so the health care plan can be squashed but they can blame it on the other side.
At this stage most people are really against it, Congress's approval rating is horrific at the moment and a huge number of people don't want the plan. It wasn't Republican votes that got the guy in the seat, it was independants who changed votes to stop the health care plan going ahead. It seems its likely it will be too big a burden on the economy and Obama seems to almost purposefully be letting it slip away, probably doesn't want to be the president, nor party, that breaks the camels back.
