Why isn't cloning the answer?

Here's another Wiki article that helps to answer your question:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Founder_effect

The Founder Effect theorises that the new population of cloned animals will be different to the original species. It seems like cloning can be used to an extent but it will not return a species back to its state before a bottlenose effect.

i think someone has already said it but cloning is really really complicated - its not the money, its the technology and the science - it just isn't upto it at the moment.
A great deal of genetics is still a mystery and there are many unforseen problems that need solving and i'm sure there will be a lot more to solve before it becomes even remotely viable - then we will have to have a discussion about the morality of it all :p
