Three things;

Firstly, you've got an i7 970 in the Alienware - a (until a couple of days ago) £600 ish CPU versus a £190 i5...

Secondly, the PC linked to (the nice one) I believe is either from MDPC or similar to. MDPC is always worth a look anyway - lovely PCs on there.

And - obviously self-building it would be cheaper, but people who buy Alienware PCs generally have more money than sense, and don't care that they're spending way over the odds because they can afford to. Or are stupid.

Thats an Alienware? looks like somebody's generic build.

I use to once think Alienware was the Apple styled look for PC's before they went mental with the Christmas lights. I'd expect something like this:

now that is right up my street, gorgeous!

Alienware have always been massively overpriced.
