I've been driving for just over 3 months now, i'm 20. My first car being a golf mk2 16v. After 3 months i'm already a little bored of the power. It handles great and i love how heavy all the controls are etc. But after seeing some of these cupras about I want one badly. They are understated and have loads of tuning potential. Obviously insurance will be a bit of a killer, but it is possible. So do you think I should get one?

Thanks for all the replies :D One part of me says wait another year for the ncb (fingers crossed). Trouble is, whatever car I have i will want to tune. I already spent £1000 on a milltek exhaust and coilovers for my car and it feels like a bit of a waste if i intend on getting something within a year to carry on buying bits. I do 60-80 miles a day to work. My car has been very reliable but a lot of stuff is wearing out quickly because of the milage its already done.

I love the leon cupra r as well, but its a bit more pricey and the ibiza is lighter and therefore more agile i would have thought?

Jez i hardly see any ibiza's about. Partly why i want it is cause people will think "rubbish little young persons hatchback".

Another question. Anyone know what seat are like for servicing costs? I don't mind gettting my hands dirty but nice to keep FSH.

Thanks for all the advice so far :)

Yeah i'd go for the 1.8T. £500 on chipping and tuning sees it to 200-212 bhp.

rlm I wouldn't mind a performance diesel. But you have to fork out more for the actual car in the first place. So I would have to weigh it up.

The_one i was looking at yours earlier, very nice. Not old enough to go with greenlight, but adrian flux would insure me i think. I am going to ring them for a quote tuesday and hopefully its really expensive. If not I might have to do it.
