Far far away....
If you look at the teams there were only 6 players who qualify to play for England as far as I can tell.

Hart, Richards, Sturridge, Vassell, Hoyte and Wallcott.

Out of those, Hoyte, Vassell are surely out of contention, Richards is already in the squad, Hart is in the Under 21's and Wallcott spends most of his time wearing a grove into the bench.

What can he possibly learn from watching games like this?

Man City: Hart, Corluka, Dunne, Richards, Ball, Ireland (Mpenza 83), Hamann (Geovanni 75), Gelson, Petrov, Elano, Sturridge (Vassell 55).
Subs Not Used: Schmeichel, Jihai.

Arsenal: Lehmann, Sagna, Gallas, Senderos, Clichy, Hleb (Justin Hoyte 89), Fabregas, Flamini, Diaby, Adebayor, Eduardo.
Subs Not Used: Fabianski, Bendtner, Traore, Walcott.

Can see whether Richards is ready to play at centre back at international level. There was the opportunity to see if Walcott could offer anything but unfortunately he didn't get a game.

Its not going to do him any harm to see how Premiership football is played is it.

Location wise he probably could have also been at Anfield since it's a short drive away so maybe he wanted to see two matches in one day? I don't know really, Setanta didn't pick up on him if he was at Anfield.

Must have been obvious he wasn't going to play though.

But anyway, maybe he just hasn't seen much of City? I'm not sure. He did mention in midweek that he'd be at the game though, and his assistant would be at the Spurs/United game.

Why is Hoyte out of the question? We aren't exactly blessed with fit, quality right backs atm.

The trouble is he's erm, not very good. He MIGHT develop into a better player but he's not top four quality.

Sagna's just appeared out of nowhere and totally owned that position and so far has been relatively injury free. Wenger also likes using players that can play in more than one position, Hoyte as far as I know can only play in one modestly well.

Hoyte can play anywhere along the back, in fact when he was on loan Sunderland deployed him at leftback nearly all the time.

The problem is, he doesn't really have the physique to play CB.
