why wont my rex-x start

You have to open the throttle to get it started, ie when you pull the pullstart (or use the starter motor) you have to push the accelerator forward a bit. Once it starts you normally have to give it some revs until it warms up, then it'll idle by itself.

If it floods you can take the glowplug out and pull the engine over a few times which will blast any excess fuel out the hole. You can check the glowplug by putting it in the starter and putting some power on it. It should glow red hot almost instantly.
MmmmHmmmm.

when i Did Nitro, mine usually glowed white hot.

did you build the car yourself? the servo that controlls throttle also controlls Air-Intake.

See if you can adjust the Air intake valve on the carburettor (sp?)

no unfortunatly i didnt build it myself it was an rtr kit. all i need is a way of allowing more air into the engine without having to open the throttle
would messing about with the high speed valve, the low speed valve and the idle stop valve do anything??

no Jonny69 was right it glows red :D

Pull the airfilter off and drop a few drop of fuel down there as said, its a very good way of starting an engine, also warm the head up with a hairdryer before starting until the engine is worn in as it will be quite tight.

I loosen the plug also as if the engine floods it can kill my rotostart or one way bearing on my sav, gonna put my pullstart on when i get my engine out again tho.

no hotlinking please! changed for you now

The Top round circle near the High speed needle is where you put a little bit of fuel down. Make sure you prime the engine.

Prime = Take glow start off the plug, finger over the exhaust and pull the starter a few time to see fuel circulate.

i cant try and start it again for another couple of hours because the glow start needs charging. This is really ******* me off now i would have expected this if i had brought it second hand but ts brand new and has only being run for 1 hour odd. If i cant get it going today i will take it back to the shop and get it fixed/changed/refunded

Changes is the idle speed of the engine, it just stops the roller valve in the carb from shutting as much, When my car doesnt start I tend to open up the throtle lots on it when I'm primeing the engine, then try starting it, if it doesnt start after a few pulls, I'll take out the glow plug give it a few good pulls on the start to shift out the fuel in there (cover your eyes if you do this because fuel flys out the top lots) then put the glow plug back in reprime it and try again, normally works for me, took me weeks to get my engine setup perfectly so its doesnt stall and starts first time.

Are you sure theres fuel going down the pipes to the carb? nothing worse than getting an air bubble stuck in one of the pipes, if you got air in the pipes then take them off n drain out the fuel put them back on prime the engine.
You got a fuel filter on it?

no no fuel filter. i have blown down the pressure pipe and the fuel has gone into the carb. if i open the idle valve slightly then will it allow more air into the engine on idle and would the wheels stay still.

sorry im kinda new to the nitro side of things have being doing electric for about 2-3 years and decided i wanted a nitro car aswell but its being a pain in the ****

Whilst we're on the subject, are those nitro RTR models off the bay for around £130 any good?

I've got a feeling i'l use it a few times and then it'l just get thrown in the back of the garage so I don't want to spend too much. Just want something to take out and thrash about.

by the bay i presume you mean ebay. I wouldnt buy any nitro rc car from ebay because you never know the quality of the engine and theres no guarantee on it, and anyway i paid £200 for my car brand new from model machine i personally think its worth the extra £70 to know that its brand new and there is at least a 12 month guarantee on it.

Depends on the engine.
The Acme has a tiny engine, which I dont how how fast It will go.

However the Schumacher Rascal, a 1:18th scale truck with a .18 engine in it will go some stupidly fast speeds.

I have a NB16 with a 2 speed box and it goes really well! Selling it soon tho as the sav gets all my playtime.

i tried all the things you told me (hairdryer, loosen glow plug and drop of fuel in carb) and it sounded good when i was pulling the pull start then it fired and ticked over for about 6-7 secs then just cut off so im guessing my settings arnt right. I might take it to the shop later to see what the bloke there says.
JAMAL i noticed you live in stoke-on-trent and i was wondering if you knew any tracks where you can race them. I think there is going to be one at park hall hills.
thanks for the help guys :D
