Bit of a wierd one this

Got 2 hard drives, a Samsung spinpoint 250Gb 8Mb Cache and a WD Caviar SE16 320Gb 16Mb cache, both are split inot 2 partitions, games on the 2nd WD partition and documents on the 2nd samsung partition

Dual booting at the mo with XP on the WD and vista on the Samsung

Im finally ready to fully jump to vista so i boot ito XP and format the drive with vista on it then reboot from the vista CD, select the WD as the install location ( C: ) and setup proceed but gets a far as Completing installation and freezes up. Tired it several times same result.

Put XP back on no problems and formatted the games drive ( also on the WD ) and tried another dual boot config, this time with vista on the WD. Again the same, fails at Completing install.

Whats wrong as it flies onto the samsung.

Am i missing something obvious?

Tried the WD diagnostics, just in case the drive is nearing the end of it's life?

Also have you tried installing Vista with just the WD drive connected?

The drive only a few months old and it works perfect in XP so i hope its not dying on me

I'll try it with just the WD connected at a later time as im currently eying up a very cheap 36Gb Raptor
