Wi-Fi is really unreliable on my Windows computer

Hi, my Wi-Fi keeps switching from running at normal speed (~8mb down on Google Speed test) to running really slowly (0.1 to 1mb on Google Speed test). Even in the case of watching the Elden Ring trailer it would switch between these speeds a few times, so it'd buffer a bit then just stop.

I'm using a FRITZ!Box 7530 router and the Wi-Fi card built into my MSI B460M PRO-VDH WIFI router.

When I view the WiFi tab under Task Manager it's also very erratic so I don't think there's something using up all of my bandwidth running in the background.

I've tried both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz and it seems to be the same on both. Every other device on the network including phones, TV, iMac and MacBook don't have this problem and in fact seem to get much faster download speeds too (up to 30mbps).

Any help would be really appreciated because at times it's completely unusable :(

If you sort Task Manager by Network usage is anything else using bandwidth?

Windows 10 downloading updates in the background?
(If so then under Windows Update Settings -> Advanced options -> Delivery optimisation ->Advanced Options, you can limit the bandwidth it uses)

Thank you! That's a great idea. Sorry I didn't reply sooner but I've been waiting for it go to slow, and it hasn't... I just had a problem with iPlayer and I thought "finally!" and checked but it was showing my network usage as just 1%. I then ran a speed test out of curiosity, expecting it to be super slow and got this:

I don't think I've ever had anything above 10mpbs on this computer so I'm pretty delighted. The only thing I can think of is that my Windows seemed to update earlier (my computer restarted and now I have the weather in blurry text in the bottom right) so I'm hoping that maybe a Windows update has fixed it... fingers crossed!

Sorry to bump such an old thread but I'm still having this problem, in fact if anything right now it's worse than ever:

Other devices I've just tested (my phone, and my wife's MacBook) are getting close to 38mbps and on my PC I'm getting this. I've tried switching between 5ghz and the older style and both are just as slow as each other.

I'm trying to do some e-learning with an organisation I volunteer with and it just isn't possible, the video stops every couple of seconds :(

How does the Wi-Fi perform on your phone in the same location as your PC? Where are your Wi-Fi antennas positioned?
