Picked up a nice new monitor today (LG W198WA) which has the added bonus of a TV tuner and loads of inputs.
Been at work toda and figured to test it out with my laptop (Toshiba Tecra M2) which has a Geforce FX Go5200. This was plugged in the analog connection.
Even with a modified (nv4_disp.inf) drivers (as the NVIDIA drivers no longer support my video chipset) I just can't get the native resolution on the monitor.
I've even tried various tools but it simply looks like the driver doesn't support it (at least on my laptop).
Just about to head home to try it on my equally aged ATI Radeon 9600 Pro (on DVI) and on latest Catalst drivers. Hopefully it'll work
eek: ) but I'm so frustrated at Windows XP, drivers and monitors not letting me set the right setting.
Why is it so difficult to achieve?
Is Vista support for widescreen (and older chipsets) any better?
If my 9600 Pro doesn't work then I'll have to get a new AGP card that supports wide screen 1440x900. Does anyone have any suggestions (just in case)
