Whats the widest lens you can use on a Canon 5D? the 10mm Sigma one we have has a ring around the whole image.

From a quick look on google it looks like 17mm is the widest that works properly?

The Sigma 12-24 should work I think.
What causes the black ring around the image? On the 10mm - something (forgotten), because even when zoomed in to 24mm the ring is still there.

If you're going to just say "the widest lens", then there are a few 8mm fisheyes that will work on a full-frame Canon. The widest Canon-made lens and the widest zoom that will work is the 12-24, though.
Edit: Scratch that, I misread.
