Wife Slipped in a Shop, What to do?

Just to play devils advocate for a sec... Is your wife going to:
a) Suffer permanent injury
b) Lose significant earnings
c) Incur lots of cost for some other reason

Sounds like she has hurt herself and picked up a fracture that might get her a couple of weeks paid sick leave and then get back to her life. If so then I would say grin and bear it. If it's one of the other three then maybe call one of them no win no fee people and see what they say.

a) Probably Not
b) She will loose 3 days earnings
c) None

She has been told she will be off work for four weeks which isn't going to make her boss too happy either.

I was walking to work in 2005 and slipped on a sheet of wet perpex plastic.

Fractured my right arm and couldnt work for 7 weeks. Couldn't write for my A-Level exams either, had to get a scribe. It was the companys fault because the plastic shouldn't have been left around on the premises, but like everyone here says your wife should do, I just dealt with my problems at the time, got my arm mended and then got on with life. Stuff happens, build a bridge and get over it.

Most places I have worked I would have taken some pain and 3 days pay for 4 weeks off work and called it a fair deal... a really good deal if I got sympathy cake from the shop involved... and a great deal if I could still use a mouse with my injured arm so I could kill the time beter!

Up to your wife though I guess...

Can't beleive these replies in this thread, the guy just wants a bit of help

Anyway mate the best thing to do when you have a slip or fall is to contact these guys - they are absolutely great and will sort your wife out with what she needs to properly fix this issue:

Speak to one of the Ambulance chasers, you will get nothing but self-righteous posturing and maybe a patronising telling-off from here.

Not really, businesses are insured against this type of this. It will be nothing more than a minor inconvenience.
This type of this, as opposed to that type of this? :p

Your wife obviously knew the floor was wet and therefore slippy, there was a sign placed on the floor, fair enough it might be the wrong way round but it's hardly going to say 'buy one get one free' is it? Everyone tends to know what those signs are when they see one. Your wife should have then known to be extra careful. So I don't see where the shop is completely at fault here, i'd just put it down to a bad experience.

Those signs are yellow and anybody should know what they mean, if I saw a yellow sign, doesn’t even have to face the same way as me I would be careful, just tell her to go to the doctors and get a sick note for 4 weeks and get SSP and whatever the employee pays.

There is an advert just like what happend to your wife, she claimed about £4,000.

Tru, (though you got a point), that was uncalled for.
I'm not sure. This man, who is new around here, comes and asks for some advice and instead gets his wife insulted. What a great community we have become.
