Wii 2 'in a couple of years

I can't see it myself. Maybe a revision that upscales the games to 720p is possible but not a brand new console.

Considering the Price of the Wii, having a 3 year life span wouldn't surprise me, whilst there is no basis in truth, potentially it wouldn't be such a bad idea.

It's not like paying £425 for a PS3 and having them put a new one out in 36 months, so I wouldn't mind too much.

I expect this will happen. In a 3 years the Wii may struggle against the likes of the PS3 when the Cell is at full swing. A wii2 with gfx far superior to the PS3 and Xbox360 will sell well at a low price point

The interesting thing would be, how many Wii owners would shell out for a Wii 2?? (would it be a Wii ii? lol)

I know i sure as hell wouldn't. As much as it is all about the controls and gameplay and not the graphics, my personal experiences of the Wii are just a gamecube. The better games, bar Wii sports, are just gamecube games.
Zelda Is out on the cube and the other big one Mario Strikers, whilst i enjoy the game, it doesn't really use the Wii controls to any great effect. I could play that game happily with a pad, take out the multishot thing and you don't really use the movement controls.

I think a lot of people have bought the WIi, have a laugh with it, pass it around their mates, they all have a laugh with Wii sports, then it is back to the cupboard again. And i don't think you will get people shelling out another 200 quid again, plus all the peripherals you pretty much need to buy, again in 2-3 years, just for some prettier graphics.

My god that was a bit of a rant wasn't it? lol

That's all I need to read, thanks.

:p
That's exactly what I thought when I read the OP! :p
I'm not even going to read the article because I know it's all just speculation, and no more reliable than what you read in forums, message boards and blogs every day.

But the Wii is just suffering the lack of games that all new consoles initially suffer from. The wii has a great line up coming out in the next year, more innovative than anything the Xbox or PS3 has.

Woah matey - just been in two threads now where you're having a go at people for preferring the 360 to the Wii! The Wii is a great console, as is the 360 (I'm not convinced by the PS3 yet) but it wont be to everyones taste :)

My advice would be to leave it be :)

That is a matter of opinion tbh. The most inovative thing i have seen so far is Little Big Planet.
The Wii isn't just suffering from lack of games, it is suffering from lack of use of the controller. Everybody loves Wii Sports, but that is the only game to make any real use of the controller. And tbh i am sitting waiting patiently for some games to come that actually makie decent use of it. Though i have heard the godfather does also make quite good use of it, but then again, that is a PS2 game, which i played quite happily with a pad. Like i said, even the big games, by nintendo aswell, just aren't making use of the controls. So if they can't, and they have had the dev kits long times, and it was nintendo's idea, then it is a bit of a struggle.
I have tried my best to hold off calling the Wii a fad, but tbh the more i play it, etc, i am tending to lean to the 'It's just a gamecube' crowd.
I think the next nintendo console will have a controller more akin to the SIXAXIS tbh.

Warioware?

Warioware?

But that is quite possibly the worst title of the past 8 generations :p

so we have 1 title, plus the freebie that make use of the controller, when the controller/Input deive is pretty much the 1 thing this system has going for it?

It would be like the 360 having 2 games the supported Live.

Sonic?

Edit: Can't believe you guys don't like Warioware. It's class, and a fantastic introduction to the Wii and it's controller

only if you wanna spend a fortune on all the other controllers and only play when you have a room full of folk.
Other than that it is just meh.
I haven't played sonic, but i thought the reviews said the controller was more confusing than intuitive?

Sonic takes a little while to get used to, but works really well with the controller once you do.

Warioware only uses one controller.

Madden NFL '07?

Madden is ok, but my original point isn't that no games use the controller, my point is, the Wii controller isn't offering anything more than a regular controller at the moment. Madden is ok, but it didn't offer a whole lot more over a controller. Also mario strikers, yeah it uses a bit of motion sensing, but the game is nothing they couldn't do with a gamecube and gamecube controller, you know?

Nothing seems to be great and built from the ground up for the Wii, which i guess is dissapointing me at the moment. I am looking forward to RE4, since i have never played the original, but i am justy slightly worried it will be another game with, a little bit of motion sensing, and the rest just plays like a controller game.
I am just totally underwhelmed i guess.
