So got a new (black) Wii system over xmas. The remotes are the black variety with motion plus on them in the nice black silicon skin.

I like the idea of keeping them in the black silicon skins, so this would mean they wouldn't fit in the available steering wheel shells you can get.

Now my son wants Mario Karts - For those of you with Mario Karts, do you use the wheels? ie: Do they help with the playability?

If so, then I guess I'll have to remove the black silicon skins and get some of the wheels that fit the remote+motion plus

Everyone I know who plays the game uses a wiimote + nunchuck. The wheel just isn't accurate enough.

The game plays poorly when using the motion controls if i'm honest, i stick to the joystick on the nunchuck, it easily outdoes anyone playing with the wheel.

Wheel = fun and frustration with family
Makes you feel like you're trying to drive but it doesn't.

Mario Kart = Wii Classic Controller. I'm dead serious.

They had to make so much allowance for how people would use the wheel (since its not fixed) that it's severely gimped as a control method. Being fairly heavy handed I dislike the lack of support with the Nunchuck, but it so much easier to pop a wheely with a flick of the remote.

I've yet to play with the nunchuck or controllers (just found the gamecube controlers in the loft yesterday).

You can use the wiimote without the steering wheel, however IMO its harder to control than when using the steering wheel (not sure why)

I plan to try nunchuck, then failing that the gamecube controllers.

Don't get the wheel, the game is horrible with the wheel, i ended up using a Gamecube controller.

Nunchuck and wiimote is key to the bikes and pulling wheelies and stunt flicks on the jumps to get the boost whilst totally decoupling the steering with another hand. You just cant do that with a wheel that floats in free space.
