Wilko's back **6 Nations Spoilers**

Wilko...absolute touch of class, end of the day you could see the effect it had on the whole team - bang goes the points, it's so depressing for a forward when you do all the hard work, win the penalty then someone (..Hodgson...) puts the penalty wide, Wilko turns effort into points and that feeds through the whole game and keeps the momentum going, his dropkick was a great example of that. I absolutely enjoyed today's game, which is saying something given the performances of late, there was a bit of scrappiness which I'd like to see cut out, but it's a very positive start and I'm looking forward to seeing the lads play again :)

I think Brian Moore's great, now I'd like to see him and Jonathan Davies commentate a game together, especially if it was a poor game, they'd keep the audience entertained. And I was impressed with Wilkinson's performance but I think he'll find it harder against France, Ireland and Wales. I hope the media don't go overboard though. He needs a good tournament as a whole before he's considered back.

one more thing, im slightly bias being scottish so this question goes out to all the english on the board. do u guys like brian moore? i personally think he is a waste of fresh air, and it seemed like eddie butler agreed!
I do. He commentates just like he used to play - right in your face - and, just like when he played, some people don't like it. :)

Brian Moore always makes me laugh when he's commentating it's like he's commentating down the pub or something he don't give a **** what he says half the time, in this PC world it's refreshing to hear :)

Ireland not looking like 6 nations favourites so far! Losing 9-5 to Wales.

Have to say england deserved their win yesterday we are too lightweight as per usual.

The 2 moments that really swung it for them. Poor defence leading to richardsons simple touch down for try and the Video ref who clearly hasnt been to specsavers giving that try :o

O'Gara converted Try,

Wales 9 - 19 Ireland

All over, win to Ireland, Irelands pack are in for a hard time if they don't improve on that performance, O'Connell has gone from being one of the best locks in the world to being almost anonymous in a couple of months. I didn't see anything there to make Ireland out and out favourites yet.

There was a Richards on the bench. Or do you perhaps mean J Robinson? :p

Ireland were very lucky yeaterday. Wales upped the tempo and the Irish really struggled to keep pace with a team struggling with injuries and suspension in the back line.
The NZ ref was far too lenient. I counted three occaisions when a green shirt should have gone to the bin, one of which was the early Easterby tackle on Czekaj as he was about to score. The ref should have run under the posts and then reached for his pocket. 16-12 to Wales. Game on.

If there is no good news on the injury front I would replace Luscombe with Brew for the next match. He looked a right handful when he came on.

England team to face Italy on Saturday

England: Balshaw; Lewsey, Tindall, Farrell, Robinson; Wilkinson, Ellis; Freshwater, Chuter, Vickery (capt), Deacon, Grewcock, Easter, Lund, Corry.
Replacements: Mears, White, Palmer, Rees, Perry, Flood, Tait.

Balshaw replaces Morgan, Nick Easter (who looked really good for the Saxons on Friday) replaces injured Joe Worsley to win his first cap, and Shaun Perry (Who also played really well for the Saxons) replaces Richards on the bench.

I think Easter is a good call, a proper 6 replaces a proper 6, he's a great ball carrier, tackles like a demon and has played really well for Quins this season. It's also great to see some proper competition for the 9 shirt with 3 SH's in the running for it and having to really compete. Under Ashton so far we seem to finally be seeing this much vaunted strength in depth, with the Saxons being used exactly how they should be -as an extended nursery/training squad for players rehabilitating or being checked for form suitability.

after watching the games at the weekend, i feel that both ireland and wales are both capable of winning the championship and england will need to up their game to beat both of them. they made hard work of a very poor scottish side for 60 mins and with wales pace and irelands individual talent, i think england will struggle, especially away from home.

I've just seen the French team for Sunday and apparently they're playing Chabal at 7 , Laporte really has excelled himself this time, he's fast becoming as clueless as Andy Robinson :o

**Edit**

France team to face Ireland:

Poitrenaud; Clerc, Marty, Jauzion, Dominici; Skrela, Mignoni; Marconnet, Ibanez (capt), de Villiers, Nallet, Pape, Betsen, Harinordoquy, Chabal. Replacements: Bruno, Milloud,Thion, Bonnaire, Yachvili, Beauxis, Heymans.

Evidence of Laporte's incompitence

can only agree with that. Use that squad as it should be, feeding the main team.

I've just been reading Brian Ashton has had Richard Hill (Sarries back rower not Bristol Coach) back in training with the squad the last couple of days. BA was quoted as saying he it thought it would be good for Hilly to see the structures and the patterns they're trying to work with even if he's not quite ready yet to return to international rugby. The more I see of Ashtons attitude and the relaxed way he seems to approach player management the more hope I really have. Good on Brian again!

The Italians have lost Mauro Bergamasco and Andrea Masi to injury. The loss of Bergamasco will damage them, both the Bergamasco brothers are class acts.

I also see the Ref Steve Walsh is in the thick of it yet again , When will he learn to keep his mouth shut and why do the IRB continue to put up with this joker (perhaps he has compromising photos of Paddy O'Brien ;) )

It's a special irony when someone miss-spells 'incompetence'
:p ;)

I suspect you'll see the backrows move around depending on pitch position and whose feed it is.
Betsen will play at 7 and get after O'Gara on Irish put ins while Chabal will pick up from 8 if the french feel they need some go forward from a scrum. Harinordoquy offers another lineout option and could be a great 6 if he didn't llike the limelight so much. It's just not natural in a forward. :D

Walsh is a pillock. I agree that Ireland got away with murder at the breakdown last week, but to criticise the officiation in a match where was running the line himself  makes him sound like he doesn't know his arse from his elbow.
What odds can I get on Walsh waving about at least three yellow cards this weekend. :D

For that you are now an honary Andy Robinson :p :p

Bah, good spelling would only make me a bad hooker and get me kicked out the front row union ;)

We changed from a word based system to numbers for the lineout calls at one club I played with.

You guessed: the hooker couldn't spell. :D

Couldn't throw either mind. But at least he was missing the right jumpers now.

It's all about words AND numbers :p. Was a bit of pain having to repeatedly explain the lineout calls at the start of the season...
