iv read that these cards need 16x pice slots but do they work on my motherboard which is in my sig.

I helped a chap who had one running at x2 bandwidth on an ultra-d (lower slot). So yeah, it worked, just the frame rates were down. It needs x16 bandwidth to function at maximum speed. So nothing else in the lower slot if you want the maximum performance.

You've got a 16x PCI-E slot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've got the same mobo as you.....where did you get the idea it wasn't!!!?
 
lol thb i really dont kno its just been stick in my head that my mobo is 8x not 16 and as that guys first post said about hes helped a guy just made me think it wasnt possible. well looks like i dont need tp upgrade my mobo after all...cheers

btw would u say a 8800gtx is par with 7900gtx sli?

bcoz it would be cheaper for me to upgrade my mobo (need a bigger gap between each pci-e slot for two dual slot coolers) and buy a 7900gto.
