Ok, I am looking to set up a media server in my room along with my main PC. I know my basic network stuff, but I just need a bit of clarification.
I would like both boxes to be able to access the wireless network independently (will be a router downstairs), but also an ethernet link between them to make it faster for me to dump files onto it from my desktop
My first thought was a wireless bridge in my room plugged into a switch to which the server and the desktop will also be connected.
My question is this, and I'm farily sure that I know the answer here, but will a bridge route traffic between these two boxes without it bouncing down to the router and back?
Secondly, any recommendations for the bridge? Must be able to do multi IP bridging obviously. I was thinking a WRT54GL, as I believe the 3rd party firmware allows this mode of operation.
Thanks for your time.
