I got a bad axe mainboard and will be getting a conroe E6600 upon release of it...does anyone know or has seen a bad axe mainboard work with the corsair xms2 6400 ram? I know the board supposedly supports only 533 or 667 speeds, but I think i read somewhere it will take some 800mhz ram too.

Can anyone help or confirm this?

Also would a E6600 running on the bad axe be quicker using 6400 or 5300 ram?

Thanks for any help

my socket 939 motherboard says DDR400, but i have mushkin redline running at 550Mhz no problem at all, so i would imagine it would be fine, but i would wait for some more replies to be sure

You do realise you are talking about an AMD motherboard, which since the introduction of the K8 has no need for a memory controller and hence it doesn't make that much difference which motherboard you have. Not to mention the thread is refering to an Intel motherboard.

yes it will work fine! All DDR2 can run at lower than default clocks.
Now memory compatability is another thing though.

For reference im using a set of 667s and 800s on the 3 boards fine.

e.g. my OCZ 6400 run on my asrock with my 6600 (266x9)
memory works @ 266 or higher with deviders.

it was just to say most boards generally work over there maximum rated memory, no need to completely pick faults with everything, i never once mentioned an intel board it, but i can read.
