Will deliding a 3770k with a top air cooler get me to 5ghz?

The temptations to keep my 1155 setup and upgrade my 2500k and just get a 3770k and delide it to hopefully get to 5ghz.

Would a 3770k @5ghz be close to a 7700k?

Odds of me getting to 5ghz?

If no chance, is the Rysen 1600 good enough for running with a 1080 ti?

I only game for about an hour at a time in VR so a high vcore might not be a huge issue

I will look into 2600k and 3770k and weigh up my options.

I definitely need to upgrade my current 8gb Ram... Does 3770k allow higher ram speeds over 2600k?

Can you delide a 2600k? I know you can with 3770k

I believe all depends.
Let's not forget one of the factors of the perf jump between ivy and haswel (plus later ones), has to do with the transition from ddr3 to ddr4

@op instead of spending money to a 3770, maybe you could consider the option of selling the system and buying an R5 6core and overclock it to 3.9-4 with good low latency ddr4 3000 ram or better?

Is the R5 6core plenty fast @4ghz for VR gaming with a 1080 ti ?
