hi i bought a new samsung c750 a few weeks ago, when it upgrded the software over the air ,it left me with a problem when i would watch bbciplayer and then try to switch back over to normal tv the screen would freeze for a few seconds, nothing the next upgrde wpnt fix,so i phoned the shop and told them what was wrong, they arranged for me to go down to the store and pick another tv as they didnt have any stock left of my old one,so i got the samsung 50inck plasma c680 3d tv and told me dpd would come and pick the other one up from my home, ive waited in 7 times for them when they told me they were comeing to pick it up and 7 times they have failed to show up,ive have been constantly on the phone to the shop to come and get it but they dont seem to care about wanting it back,so i was thinking i would jst sell it on as it has a 5 year warrnty aswell,i should recoup most of the cash i paid out and since xmas is jst over i need the cash.what would you guys do

ye mate/how did you know that,starts with a r

That's the one. I seen you were from Glasgow and it's about the only shop in the country that would tell you to pop down to collect a new one.

I know a couple of the boys who work in there. Did you pay for the replacement TV? or was it given as a replacement under the impression the old one would be collected?

I really can't see them missing it to be honest. If you did get the replacement for free and they haven't asked for the old one back then definitely sell it. They won't be giving a monkeys.

it was a replacement tv ,with dpd comeing to pick the other one up,i couldnt belive it when they told me to go down to the store and pick a new tv while i still had the other one, what i didnt say was that they also paid for a black taxi from castlemilk to the shop then back to the house with the tv,and because they didnt have the same tv in stock after telling me on the phone that they had they gave £200 cash back because i had to pick another tv,so i bought the onkyo 308 amp and jamo 5.1 speaker they were selling for £400 but gave them to me for the £200 that they gave me in the first place,i walked out totaly stunned it was xmas all over again, they did tell me that they wanted it back at first but like i said they have failed to turn up 7 times now.also if i keep it do you think my 5year tv warranty with the replacement tv will be ok or will they cancel as i paid £100 for it ,its jst i might run into trouble if the new tv ends up haveing a fault And i try to return it

My god. What a deal you got yourself. I am friendly with the manager and the most I get is free delivery and the manager special!

I would sell it on. I can't imagine the warranty would be wise to cash in. That's like you taking them their own telly to fix for yourself. Quit while you are ahead. Forget the warranty. Give me the telly haha.

ye il probaly forget about the warranty/like i said i walked out totaly stunned with £1500 worth of goods which only cost £60 into the taxi that they paid for/how could they be so stupid.the tv cost £1100 how much should i sell it for..hehe

If the replacement was free on the proviso that they would collect the original then keep contacting the shop/courier to get it collected. The original TV no longer belongs to you. Selling it on would be deception. Whilst they have failed to collect, this does not make it your property.

You received fantastic customer service by the sound of it and now you want deceive them and get your money back by selling the original on? Personally if you did this then I hope they try to collect the day after so you can try and explain it to them! I believe they would be well within their rights to report you for theft or handling stolen goods as you will have effectively sold a TV which does not belong to you.

You obviously tried to get them to colllect, repeatedly calling them and staying in to wait for them wben they inconveniently didn't collect it (waste of your time, and rude) so maintain radio silence, wait a month, then if no further contact just sell it. Their fault, not yours.

And hash, for goodness sake please put the punctuation in the right place in your posts, theyre a bloody nightmare to read.

Write a letter stating if they do not pick it up within 28 days, you will dispose of the tv in an appropriate manner. Then if they don't pick it up, its yours to sell/throw in bin....

That would be the correct way of dealing with it.

do you have any correspondance in regards to your attempts to get them to pick it up?

for the love of god dont sell it on, keep a hold of it and use it in another room or something. fair enough a year down the line and they haven't picked it up but sods law would be you sell it on and then they come looking for it

as a side note does sound like excellent customer service as usual from Julian (i guess we cant mention his company) must be the only company i know that you very rarely hear a bad word about. your experience echoes my own last year with a small problem although i didnt get any free tv's lol(did get a few quid in vouchers though )

I cant be the only one who thinks that doesnt quite add up, surely?

The manager (my friend) only works for the company. It's not coming out of his pocket, it's not his television. It will only go down as lost stock. I hardly think he will be worried about one missing television out of tens of thousands.

After reading this. He's right!

I was posting at 4am and may have been a little on the sleepy side. It would be a lot more sensible to sit tight and wait to see if they get in contact. I.E 3-4 months.

Come on your from Castlemilk, you know how to wheel and deal :D

I'd suggest you write a recorded delivery letter to them, keeping a copy, stating that unless they collect the set within 28 days they will deem the set to be your property and you shall dispose of the 'faulty' set at your own convenience after that time. If they don't collect it then you have the recorded delivery letter that you know they've received as well as the previous attempts where you've taken time off out of your own pocket and your own wasted time staying in for it to be collected.

A similar thing happened with a TV I've just purchased. My girlfriend arranged a replacement over the phone because the first set was faulty. When I went to the store to make the exchange they said we'd actually ordered a new TV so they'd refund the faulty one. However they never asked my girlfriend for a second payment which I assumed they had. The refund has come through fine but there's no sign of a charge for the second set.

If I was you, i'd do as suggested above, send a recorded delivery letter giving the ultimatum to pick up the TV or it will be going. If I was less inclined to be honest about it i'd probably keep it in another room for a bit and see if they chased me up, if not then it's a freebie. Depends on your morals and stuff I suppose!
