hi people i am looking to get the Intel Core 2 DUO LGA775 E6300 1.86GHz Retail / Gigabyte 965P DS3 / 1GB GeIL PC2-6400C4 Dual Channel Kit - Bundle (BU-036-OK) within the next month or so. the chip will be run under the swiftech apex utlra watercooling setup. now i know every chip clocks different but do u think i have a gd chance off hitting 3ghz with this setup.

gdgd does anyone else think i will. i am only getting the conroe to overclock and play css. will i notice more fps from my old 3800+x2

Check my specs Johnno.

When I get some case cooling I'm sure I can turn it up a bit more with some extra Vmem.

Running the ram at sock on a divider of 2 you'll hit 2.8. Only have to get the ram to 860 to hit 3GHz and you'll deffo get that by loosening the timings.

BTW, using the mobo to control the fan speed and an Arctic Freezer 7 Pro it's very, very quiet :)

cheers nutbuster do you think it will make a difference that im only using 1gb of ram for the time being.??

None whatsoever :D

You'll still get a cracking overclock. In fact it may even be better for using low density modiles and I'm not aware of C2D having any issues with 4 modules when you upgrade to 2 GB.

Any one know of 4 module issues with C2D?

could someone also tell me if this setup will work well together because there are soo many errors and bugs with conroe boards at the moment

Much faster in encoding and (apparently) windows, though this can often be put down to the fresh install and generally improved system, faster drives and such.

Very little difference in games, for the moment.

Speed in windows is generally down to quantity of ram and HD seek time.

I don't think you'll see much differance in windows. I'm pretty sure that if I put a gig of ram in my old PIII-800 doorstop it would still email and browse nearly as fast....

but, in video encoding, gaming and benchmarking it absolutely rocks :D
