If you saying your re-installing windows after replacing the CPU, but not re-installing the games, then your games won't work.

Most games write information into the windows registry and other areas of the windows set up and therfore will require a full re-install.

The only games that tend to be different to this are Steam games, as they install themselves in a totally different manner.

Hope that helps.

I usually do this though. You will need to run the install programs after reinstalling windows, but all your saved things/profiles will be ready to run straight away. As the stuff is already installed it's usually quicker.

Erm I haven't had any problems in the past with re-installing windows and playing my games? ... well with most games anyway. Maybe I'll just re-install them :)

.... its just a hassle :/

well, install the dual core driver then. You wont gain anything unless your Windows install is already dodgy. I simply swapped my AMD 4000 for the 4200x2, really really no need to reinstall the OS. Only need to if you change the mobo.

What he said :) Just causing yourself grief otherwise.

Even if you switch board there is no reason, from intel to intel, intel to nfrorce, nforce to nforce, and nforce to intel there is no need to reinstall and performance is the same, I've had 2 older intel chipsets and 1 nforce chipset before this on my xp install but it performs like a clean install... Just need to know what you're doing and clean old drivers properly.

Like he said, most steam games work. Might need to change some of the rates but that only takes seconds.

Some others do work too. My spiderman 3 worked, BF 2046 worked too for me, oblivion worked but had to look for the saved files.

Trial and error really.
