Any word on whether or not the new 7800 series cards will be available from OCUK (or just anywhere in the UK) on Monday? They went up for sale today on newegg in the US for $260/$360.

Well, this sucks

I sent back my gtx 560ti I bought nearly 2 weeks ago because these were meant to be coming out on the 19th and for the same price. Now it costs £25 more and isn't released for 2 weeks.

Are these the same performance as the 6950/70 give or take?

According to HC the HD7870 2GB is around 7% faster than an HD6970 2GB,and the HD7850 2GB is around 3% slower than an HD6950 2GB:

TPU,puts the HD7850 2GB very near to the HD6970 2GB though:

The HD7850 2GB is around £25 cheaper than the cheapest HD6950 2GB on OcUK so looks OK,although there is the GTX560TI 448 at this price which is quite a decent card and probably better value for money. TPU does put the HD7850 2GB at around HD6850 1GB level power consumption so it would make the HD7850 2GB better suited for systems with a smaller PSU,like SFF PC systems.

If I was AMD, I would be nervous that at these prices people will hold off until we know more about Nvidia's new cards but, as it stands, aren't they already doing Nvidia a favour - the price point of the 7850 makes the 560 TI 448 overclocked cards look very appealing. For those who don't like to be early adopters, I wonder if the appeal of lower power draw and quiet(er) trumps stable drivers, and so on.
