Will people still watch films/tv from this era in the future (100 years+)

42 year old here. The change in the world since I was born in 1969 and today is dramatic and unrelenting. So based on that I'd have to say we will not be watching films in the same way. A lot of entertainment is already being displaced by gaming now. So in 100 years I expect we will be part of the action.

Most of it won't even exist. Around 100 years ago you would be talking about the silent film era, yes? Well what we have archived from then is just a tiny fraction of what was actually made. We can't begin to imagine what great works were lost for stupid reasons. And the archives we have a rarely delved into due to 'less than ideal' properties of nitrate film.

Even so, film is much more easily archived than digital media (you can just chuck it in a dark cave for 500 years and forget about it), what we may find is that some of the best bits of this era are lost to format obsolescence. You might not think it a problem with the formats you use, but those used in the media industry are very different and often change every 18 months. Maintaining a system of backups upon backups which have to be constantly updated and replaced is expensive.

If documentaries existed from 200 years ago (etc.), I'd certainly be watching them now! How fantastic would it be to watch an embedded journo's news footage of the Battle of Waterloo? Or see an interview with Henry VIII?

The wheat to chaff ratio in films these days is about 1:10, so I think that some films will be remembered by cinema lovers for a long time, people keeping films on their computers will help this. The franchise of the week CGI product placement popcorn sellers will most likely be forgotten, I hope so anyway.
