If SLI runs well in the games you play then fair enough, but increasingly as time goes on I seem to read more negative things about multi-GPU than positive, so I'd probably sell them both - unless running one GTX970 meets your expectations at 1080p satisfactorily.

i don't believe 1 970 can get 100+ frame on ultra on Overwatch kinda want to get a 144hz monitor but dont know if the cards have the power to push it

Overwatch isn't particularly taxing so 1 970 is generally fine even at epic (1080p). It also supports SLI well so 144 fps would be no problem there but I wouldn't go buying another for 1 game. If you are getting a freesync panel you may as well wait for AMD's next offerings. I suspect you will be able to get 100+ fps with your overclocked G1 at just by turning down the dynamic lighting. Just turn off VSync and see what sort of rates you get?

Personally I'd sell both 970s £120 each and then spend £160 yourself and get a 1080 that'll do 1080 144Hz just nicely

yup this was my idea, just wondered if it would be worth it seeing as the 1080 is 460 atm quite cheap i don't mind having to buy a new graphics card but just the hassle of selling the old ones haha

overwatch has 100% scaling
1080 on Epic @4K 120fps
1080 on Epic @1440p 143fps (capped)
980s on Epic @1440p 143fps (capped)

^ my experiences

oh wow so me just wanting 1920x1080p @ 144hz is easily achieveable then on sli 970s then maybe i do play bf1 and atm mass effect etc they all work on ultra for now

i will get the monitor first i think i like the samsung VA one but its freesync :( however i heard gsync is overated anyways and doesnt matter at 144hz? am i being stupid ?

I had SLi 970s, even had the Gigabyte G1 cards. They definitely run Overwatch at 144fps 1080p locked except for intense fight scenes on certain maps. I'd say 80% of the time you'll be getting a smooth 144fps.

Mine were tightly packed in a matx setup so they never really boosted that high. If I remember rightly, they mainly hovered around 1300mhz.

I don't get it. If you say that you own both cards then why don't you see how many fps you get for yourself.?
Just unlock fps/disable vsync and monitor your fps with something like afterburner while playing.

kinda wanted the view from ppl who game at 144hz, im sure its different me unlocking frames on a 60hz monitor as opposed to a 144hz panel?

i removed the vsync and fps cap and it was 200-270 on avg which isnt bad? sometimes in parts of some maps this is on epic

will i be able to get 144hz in modern games like mass effect etc to i wonder?
