Will the rumored RTX 3080 Ti be the most underwhelming 'Ti' card ever?

I am using 1440p as a reference. The 780 Ti, 980 Ti and the 2080 Ti were all around 15% to 20% faster than their non-Ti variants. This time around, the 3080 Ti is barely 10% faster than the 3080, and that is assuming NVIDIA decides to kill the 3090 by rebranding its a Ti with lower memory. The only selling point of this card is the higher VRAM. Its a similar story on the AMD side with the 6900 XT. The price to performance ratio of all the flagships seems to be hitting a new low this year. Coupled with all the stock issues, its hard to get excited about these minor performance gains nowadays.

Nvidia undercooked the 3080 with only 10gb vram, even the older Ti’s had 11gb.

They released the equally undercooked 3070 with only 8gb.

Then they showered in all the money from the botched launch and the early adopting masses jumping all over the cards like a tramp on chips.

Then they release the better card that everyone really wants and should have waited for, that has the 20gb vram that we should have got with the other cards to compete against AMD and the new consoles.

Rendering the 3070 and 3080 as old news and the 3090 overpriced. Early adopters feel bitter and twisted for falling for the oldest trick in the book.

A well known auction site floods with 2nd hand cards.

Business as usual.

Don't see any 3090's sitting on shelves, they are selling out as soon as they come into stock.
I agree - my statement was slightly tongue in cheek. I do think that that the gap between 80 class and ti class is lower than ever but this wont stop them selling.

Clueless post is clueless. How exactly are Nvidia showering in money from a botched launched? You know Nvidia doesn't get money from Pre-orders? They also don't get any extra money from the scalpers?

It's the Retailers/Etailers that are taking your money without any product to sell.

Then dont buy it, And they will get less sales and have to give more performance. Nvidia only give people what they will accept. If they are rejected by every consumer they literally lose a massive income chunk, Stocks fall and investors will be angry and blame Jensen. He may have to resign.

If the increases keep falling, Thats because consumers are becoming more sheep like and paying more and accepting less. Nvidia are simply there to profit not play Santa Claus.

You’re absolutely right, silly me. Nvidia make no money from the sale of any of their cards. They are doing all this out the kindness of their hearts. I don’t recall mentioning scalpers and despite the preorders, I’m sure Nvidia are really struggling for cash right now

Vram aside assuming the ti model is as fast as a 3090 then it’s only ‘as fast’ as a 3080 anyway given the negligible performance difference between them.

I am a strong believer that even 10gb is more than enough so yes I see the ti as a pointless model.

I havent looked at nvidias financials but if jensen resigns there is good chance that the successor calls it off on pc gaming..
we need jensen to work till 80, he is like a necessary evil in this industry

nvidia doesnt make much money from retailers, its mostly through ASIC sales to AIBs who deal in multiple product lines. Where do you think their inventory and funds are getting allocated under current backlog pressure

The whole thing is mad, all the cards from the 6800 to the 3090 are all close in performance.

I still wonder will there be any 3080Ti at all. It's just a rumour at present.

They want our money too badly, If we demand more we will get it. If we surrender we get less.

Yes, your posts was ridiculous, this one even worse. If there are hardly any cards available to buy, please tell me how Nvidia are showering in Money from this launch (this botched launch as you call it)

5 years down our wallets wont matter a lot

GA102 is an aberration not a norm...
You've got to discount this generation as an outlier

3090 is overpriced for what it is.

3080/90TI is just a classic Nvidia trick. They haven't cleared even 20% of the backlog for the 3080/90 series and they're already planning to release the TI versions that are slightly better, but still overpriced.

One thing is for sure, no one is buying from OCUK anymore.
