Will these game work ok with computer?

AMD Athlon 1.31GHZ
512mb
Radeon 9600 XT 256mb

FEAR - First Encounter Assault and Reconnaissance
Manhunt
Counter Strike
 
haha counterstrike source will run fine, have a look at steam survey and people run using 9200, (in fact the 9250 in my media pc can run source)
 
With a hell of a lot of tweaking Source games will work but id go for DX7 or 8 and it will look more like cs 1.6 :)
 
All of them should run decently actually. I'm playing FEAR combat on an XP 2500+ (1.83GHz) with 9600Pro and 2GB of RAM (nicked from my main comp) while my motherboard is the Netherlands, but it played OK when I had 512mb of RAM. I play FEAR at native res (1440x900), but with min settings and pixel doubling on so I get a decent 60 fps at all times, and it doesn't look all that bad.

CS:S used to work on this computer with an MX440, so it'll play fine on yours. It scales really well to lower end comps, and it still looks decent on medium-low settings (but only if you change to DX7/8 mode, otherwise it runs like a dog).

Quake 4 is out of the question tbh, bare min settings and it was maxing out at about 40fps, and thats in the tight corridoors. You don't want to know how bad it was with the tank mission thingy.
 
i really cant see how you can say css can play on that machine, i used to have a 2600+ XP maching running 2gb ram on a 2600XT pro card, and it ran really bad, even on low settings it was at 40fps, you couldnyt move when a flash of smoke was used.

The whole point of CSS over cs 1.6 is the diffeerence in gfx, and game play, if u want decnt gameplay stay with 1.6, as CSS is far too easy, headshots everytime, and just kinda boring. However nice gfx compared to 1.6

I am now running a conroe system, and the only game i relly play is bf2, which is such a great game!!

Any game will play on that system, however most of them would be a waste of money as they wont be played like they should (medium/full gfx etc)

Id stick with the older games if i were you, enjoy better performance out of them, and upgrade to a better spec if u want to play the newer games.

i wouldnt bother trying quake 4 on there though :eek:

source likes cpu and ram speed - if its unplayable (ie sub 40 all the time) on my old cely 2.8 with more than 10 players then a 1.3 athlon has no chance
