Will you pay for 3dMark11?

3DMark (and all other benchmarks tbh) lost credibility a long time ago what with the graphics vendors cheating one way or the other, even game benchmarks these days aren't really representative of wider general gaming due to the graphics vendors focusing nearly all of their optimizing on the same dozen or so games that get benchmarked in every review.

I use vantage quite a lot to check for improvement/gains when I get new drivers or cards.

Also it was a good test of stability. I have had overclocks which pass furmark fine but leave it looping on vantage for half an hour and the overclock falls over.

I'd guess the only reason most people will actually want to run this is to see what's graphically possible in realtime.

With the exception of Vantage, the various 3D Marks have generally been a quality graphical showcase for the time that they were released.

My fav is still 3Dmark 2000 - the music and graphics were awesome at the time. First time I ran that was on a Matrox G200. The jump when I got a Geforce2 was quite extraordinary.

But the limitations on each release really bothers me now. No way would I pay! For showcase, GPU manufacturers usually have some good demos.

3D mark does not give us Real figures of how well our games will play it's best to benchmark Real games out on the market to show how well the games will play that we Can ACTUALLY play.

Exactly and it makes perfectly good and capable cards look like ****.

Honestly, running 3dmark can be depressing!!!! Better to run a version behind if you must! :D

True but it is a good measure of the following:

Stability testing
performance gain/loss from a driver update
Gain from a graphics card update
And since error correction arrived with memory, I always found vantage the easiest way of finding my maximum memory speeds before the number of errors corrected actaully dropped framerates.

And it's free for the performance tests so why is everybody bitching?

If u've got any spares left would u mind parting with one? :)

I might have given them all away but I will go and check now. If I haven't then you can gladly have one.

EDIT: Just found one I think I didn;t use or gave away so I have emailed you in trust.

Nah, i'll run it just to see what its like but I don't care about the older versions when looking at GPU/system performance comparisons so its really irrelevant software for real world use unless you are competing for world record marks.
