Hi All
First off sys specs:

Intel i7 920 cpu
Asus P6T mobo
G.SKILL TRIDENT 6GB (3X2GB) DDR3
3 * SAMSUNG PB22-J 64GB 2.5" SSD (2 in RAID0)
Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit Edition

I have 6GB of RAM installed but Windows only sees 4, eventhough 6 are seen in the BIOS. I've read that my mobo has memory remapping as a default and hense there is no enable this option in the BIOS. I flashed with the lastest BIOS yesterday, briefly getting heart failure as it defaulted the mobo to the extent of breaking the RAID config though sorted that out ok.... It then showed 6GB in Windows but I've just checked again and its back to 4 : (, any thoughts gratefully recieved....
Peace
René

not sure if it's the same issue that I had, but try this:

msconfig
boot tab
advanced options button
UNtick 'Number of processors'
UNtick 'Maximum memory'
click OK
click APPLY (make sure you do this)
clikc OK
reboot when prompted

Thanks for you reply :), but I had already tried that too. Also if I try to set max mem to 6144 to won't accept that returns to 4096:rolleyes:

What does the motherboard report on POST?

Hi
It reports 6135MB, but now Windows is showing 6GB again, though only 4.99GB usable. I guess the other GB is reserved for the system perhaps . But atleast all the RAM seems to be showing for now, thanks for replies guys, much appreciated :D:D
Have to say though, so far Win7 64 has been great, no real problems at all thus far ;)

hi mate are you running on board graphics? i had a similar issue when i was only getting 3.75gb out of my 4gb of ram, when i put my graphics card in it was fine showing the full 4gb, as far as im aware windows will use some of the memory to suppliment the on board graphics chipset

Hi ya,
I've got a Zotec Geforce GTX 275 896MB graphics card, so still not sure where the remaining Gig is hiding....;)

Isnt this just down to the way Windows 7 shows ram? Useable ram is free ram ready to be used, the other so called missing ram is already being used or has programmes pre loaded into it.

It the additional ram is required windows will release what has been stored and the full 6 gig will be available if needed.
