Win7 desktop icon shuffle when 720P/1080P

So my laptop is 1080P my TV is 720P

How do I stop all the icons and widgets getting shuffled around when I connect to the TV? I know the screen size is smaller, Win7 has to do something to make it fit, why can't it put it back afterwards.

I've struggled with this for ages now, and only noticed on a friends Mac Air the other week that his icons went back to their correct places when disconnecting from the projector. Win7 must have something similar to offer me/us

I'm not aware of a way built into Windows, but there are explorer extensions which will allow you to save an icon layout for each resolution:

Keep the laptop screen as the "Primary" display and the icons will always stay on it rather than move onto the TV and get jumbled around.
