Win7 too big to fit on 4gb stick

Am I being a complete noob here?

I already gave you the simplest solution:

Windows 7 is ~3.5GB iirc, with sp1 in it. You shouldn't need to fiddle with anything. An iso, a 4gb usb drive and the windows usb tool should be everything you need.

A 4Gb formatted drive is more than sufficient - if it doesn't fit somethings not right.

Any iso usb tool works, I simply suggested with microsoft one because, frankly, it's idiot proof.

Select your iso (those are the newest ones), download, format usb and use tool to make bootable usb. One caveat is man motherboards won't recognize a bootable usb drive as flash - you'll have to set the bios to usb hdd then back again once instillation is finished. It's still way, way faster than installing from a dvd though :)

+1 for the MS Win7 USB Tool. It really is idiot proof with 4 simple steps and does the work for you.

Also the same tool works with Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 :)
