Windowed mode games default to 1024x780?

This is weird - and is annoying just wondering whats going on.

Its a 22" dell monitor and a 4870 9.12 drivers. tho 9.11 did same.

Ever since i installed win 7 on release certain games want to run at this res, small res. When i set them up as optimal (MW2 for example)- Its like i have to force them to go to 1650 x 1050..

Also in everquest 2 Full screen runs at the correct larger rez but, windowed plays small until i have to force it again...

COH tales of valor did the same thing too. So im assuming its a windows 7 thing. Everything is set up in the OS correctly as far as i can see. Same in CCC its all set as it should be.

Any ideas? :confused:

when you set it to windowed mode it will reset the resolution to some arbitrary size that the game defaults too till you change it in options again i think they do it to stop you accidentally making a window so big you can't move it to find the edge/the change option button)

but usually once you change the ress to whatever in the ingame menu once it satays that way.

Least it does more me.

When i open supcom it always opens in a 1920x1200 window.

It never used to tho, thats the annoying thing. Yes ive had plenty of times where i remember not being able to reach the min/max buttons in vista.

So this is normal then now - i dont like !

it only takes an extra few seconds to change the ress to what you like once

You know you could just click "windowed mode" before you set your resolution for the first time?
