Hi guys & gals,

I could really do with some help... I'v been flipping back and forth between video's, step-by-steps and just trying to achieve a nice balance like I had before with WMC, on windows 7, just moved to 10.

I have a pc with a videomate e900f, does this even work with windows 10? I cant find anything about it or driver support.

I have a split sat/analog cable going in to the back of it, this allows me to record two things and watch another, have done it for years, WMC however dated or disliked it is, worked wonders! Easy setup, updated itself, and always recorded my programs, coupled with the PC sleep mode it would wakeup update/record and go back to sleep again. This is what I want to achieve.

Ok so, I know the done thing is kodi or media portal, but my broadband is terrible and dont have the power to back up streaming. Apparantly I can setup Next-PVR so it works with my tv card but is this true? And if so, how?

Media portal seemed a little less popular and less support.

WMC no longer available, and i know that you can get a modded version but its buggy.

Please can some one help me out by telling me to buy a new tv card, showing me a setup that will work with me having to spend loads of money, or just straight up tell me if i'm f%^*ed, really just dont know where to begin with this and tired of going round in circles.

Many Thanks

P.S - I also have an xbox one that as I understand you can buy a little box which lets you put freeview cable in to, bobs your uncle! But it only lets you record or watch one thing at a time, if there a dual box that anyone knows of this could solve my problem. But to my knowledge there isnt...

I got WMC from somewhere and have it working on Win10. I'm not sure if it still wakes from sleep as I seldom use it these days but it's still out there....somewhere.

I did have Kodi working on my raspberry pi but wasn't so fussed as I could only get it to use onboard SD which gave little micro pauses every now and then.

Three choices:

1. Retro-fit WMC into Windows 10

2. Revert to Windows 7

3. Use an alternative

I did the third for a while. I used to run TV through my PC using WMC on Windows 7 and it was a pain when I upgraded to Windows 10. I ended up using Argus TV for the backend and Kodi for the front. Worked pretty well but not quite as slick.

Say what you like about WMC but, for TV watching and PVR duties, nothing has ever come close to it for ease of use and general "slickness".

I no longer use anything on my PC as I took the easy option and stuck a TV next to my desk, with a Sky Q mini attached.
