Hi guys,

It's no biggie really, but all of the machines (5) in my household and at work etc., are now on 24H2... I'm switched onto 'Get the latest updates' - have been for a while and still nothing. Will the update get to my last machine eventually or is there a way/method of forcing it? I'm not planning on breaking anything but if there's something I can give a push :D

Thanks.

Microsoft have been pulling it back occasionally and they have said not to force it, if its not coming through, its likely not coming through due to hardware conflict that may act up with the update, best to wait for the fixes and it to come through on its own.

It could depend on what games\software are also installed on the PC.

24H2 has issues with certain Anti cheat software (Like Easy Anti Cheat that comes with The Division 2 and other games)

This will block the update so no matter what you do you may have something installed preventing it appearing

Thanks guys! Interesting you say about the anti-cheat software stuff, I couldn't play Elden Ring 18 months or so back - that was down to anti-cheat stuff!

I guess I'll sit this out then and wait for the support.

Hearing about issues like this is still putting me off hitting the annoying upgrade button on my Win10 desktop. But I think I probably just need to get it over with and try it.

Keep it on 23H2 until they sort out the issues with 24H2.

This is what I have done but for me its mainly due to Recall being added to it as I do not want this on my system.

I have created a custom ISO with recall and co-pilot removed and I may install this to get it on to 24H2 once the issues are sorted rather than getting it through Windows updates. See if this works with keeping the PC updated but remove that BS from the system

Yeah, I wouldn't rush to 24H2. It seems like everyday something different starts to intermittently break, for no apparent reason.

This is probably the most unstable version of Windows I've used since Windows 10 ~2015/2016.

To actually answer the op's question, yes you can force the install.

Go here and choose the option:

Download Windows 11 Disk Image (ISO) for x64 devices

When you've downloaded the iso file you can right click and mount it.

Can't remember now if it will start the auto install or you then need to browse the file to get to the install.exe but it's not that hard.

However as others have said there are compatibility issues with 24h2 which is why it's not being offered to you so the choice is up to you.

I think my system has tried to update it. But now im getting boot issues. I came to it in the morning and it had rebooted bu was stuck at the ROG screen with a stuck wheel. No it takes about 20 goes to boot up. Even after trying all the boot options... Seems to randomly pick when it wants to boot.

Not sure what to check next... I'm getting a error message about something poss hardware being missing???

Thanks guys, still not seeing in my updates but think I'll leave it for now then... incidentally though, all of my other machines that have updated, are absolutely fine. **touch wood**

It will eventually offer you the option or, as someone else said, you can update via installation media.

This is one of the worst updates to any OS I've ever used - it's created a number of new problems which are impacting my daily use, and I'm on the edge of doing a fresh install of the previous version. I've also blocked the rollout at work.

Can you not roll back from 24H2?

At work we have only just updated to 23H2 (last week)

Issue is Microsoft no longer do 23H2 and have to use 3rd party sites\tools to get it
