Hi all

I am trying to re-set a password on the above operating system but cannot find a free tool on the internet that i could use. Everything i have found only offers a demo version of software that cannot actually be used to do this.

It is for a laptop, a un-authorised user of the computer set-up an account and cannot remember the login details she specified.

Cheers

Slightly off topic, but what are OCUK rules on Password recovery/cracking tools? and the use of them?

funny you should mention that, i thought that after i posted!

it doesnt mention anything in the FAQ only about "warez" and software copy protection

i suppose it is a "vague" area but im sure the link i gave could be used for legitimate reason,

sorry if it is against the rules!

Thanks for the link

but it did not work :(, have tried a few versions of boot disks from that website and each time it comes up with "boot failure" when trying to boot from the disk.

I do appologise if this is against forum rules, someone has just asked me to get onto their laptop.

have you set the laptop to boot from cd first?

how are you burning the disk, you need to burn as image file, you cannot just put the file on the disk as "data"

have you got another "bootable" cd to make sure the cd-rom drive works ok?

yeah doing it the correct way, doing it via floppy as i don't think we have any spare cd's here at work, it boots into the program but wont load a file that it initially tries.
