So, like many, I installed Windows 7 over the weekend.
After doing a fresh install of Windows 7 and installing all of my drivers and apps, I'm having big issues with performance. Going into the task manager, my CPU is hitting 70% consumption across all cores when my PC is idle. The strange part is that there doesn't seem to be any process responsible! Looking at the processes for all users, the total usage for all processes rarely jumps above 10%. The idle process is taking up the rest.
I thought that maybe it was simply a calculation error but my PC does feel sluggish. My first thought was that maybe I needed to install the specific drivers intended for my motherboard but that didn't solve the issue.
Is anyone else experiencing similar problems?
My PC spec: AMD Phenom II, nForce 750i mobo, 4GB RAM, ATi 4870 gfx, OS on RAIDed 160GB HDDs, data on a Drobo connected via FW800.
