Any ideas? Driver updates made no difference.

Basically the keyboard and mouse which are USB work fine... but anything else seems dodgy if it's related to external storage.

Printer works fine on USB also.

But, some USB pens and a USB hard drive will just not have any - if you look in device manage it says CODE 43 and they just do nothing...

Windows 7 home premium 32bit

Hardware:

Intel Dual Core E5300
4 gig DDR2 667 RAM
250G SATA Maxtor HDD
Nvidia 8400 GS video card
19" TFT
Gigabyte Motherboard Socket 775 (GA-G31M-ES2L)
Wireless PCI card, realtek chipset 802.11 b/g
Samsung DVDRW +/- 22
Card reader linked to USB port on motherboard

Thanks guys.

try disbaling the card reader, i had funny results and also pc not posting with my card reader with win7, worth a pot!

also have you got the latest chipset drivers for your mobo? anything in windows update under 'optional' that relate to the pc?

Cheers for the reply, it's a friends machine but yeah I put the latest Windows 7 32bit chipset drivers on from Gigabytes site.

Is it best unplugging the card reader? Or just disable it in device manager?

Thanks :)

I had a similar problem (Unknown USB device - Error code 43, Windows 7 + Gigabyte mobo). Turned out to be an issue with my front panel USB ports (or windows not detecting them properly?).

Have a read of this thread. If it is the rear ports that you are having problems with then I really don't know what the problem is.

Cheers mate, I will try unplugging the front USB ports from the motherboard and also the card reader and see if it helps. Will also try uninstalling all USB devices then reboot and see what happens too :)

Cheers.
